don’t Take Fake · 2019
14–15 September 2019, M82 in Podil, Kyiv. The work was part of the Sprite art zone, where artists painted the surfaces of large outdoor cubes.
The work began with the video meme “Pants for 40 Hryvnias”. It made me laugh, and I drew my own pair of trousers — a character with a face and oversized feet.
For the don’t Take Fake festival in Kyiv, the character became a large-scale mural on the outside of a cube: a red smiling face, spotted trousers and oversized feet.
At the festival, the image also appeared as a screen print on T-shirts. In its printed version, the character became monochrome, moving from the festival space onto something people could wear.

The photographs show the film positive, the printing screen, the screen-printing process and festival visitors with their finished T-shirts. In the single-colour blue print, the character retained its silhouette, face and oversized feet.
